About Us

Formed in 1889, and funded by the fees collected from our membership and through our fundraising efforts, we provided a voice for business for Sault Ste. Marie.
Our ongoing advocacy role includes addressing local government policies, programs, and actions affecting member businesses.
At the Chamber, we facilitate enhancements of the economic climate; identify education and training opportunities; improve relationships with government, business agencies and labour organizations, and provide leadership in uniting major community groups.
We do this locally and with the help from the Ontario and Canadian Chambers of Commerce.
We provide many opportunities for business people to network and meet other interested firms in their respective sectors and bring these views forward to the appropriate levels of government and lobby for positive change.
Much of what the Chamber does originates from our members, and our community, which the Chamber then translates into actions that support them.
We seek to provide both tangible and intangible results for a value return on the member’s investment in the Chamber. That investment is in both time and money and there is an expected “Return on Membership” that we strive to deliver through the activities and advocacy of the Chamber Staff, Volunteers, Board of Directors and general membership.
