Sault Ste. Marie
, ON - The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, the STRIVE YPG, and the Algoma Vaccination Support Council, as a part of the consortium of grassroots organizations, Canadian businesses, associations, healthcare professionals, community leaders and influencers that make up “This Is Our Shot”, are proud to introduce Rewards for Change, a new initiative to promote vaccination.
The new incentive program is aimed at encouraging those who are hesitant to get the vaccine to receive it. Vaccinated Canadians who share This Is Our Shot’s campaign on social media can enter to win more than 3,000 prizes valued at over $550,000. Grand prizes and daily draws include incentives such as airline tickets, travel rewards, concert and sporting event tickets, and retail gift cards.
This Is Our Shot – Rewards for Change is a national sweepstake and is being facilitated by Chamber member Canadian Bank Note, which operates a branch in Sault Ste. Marie. The Canadian Bank Note’s recent acquisition – the digital raffle company Bump— is the backbone of the online sweepstakes. “Canadian Bank Note Company is very excited to partner with This Is Our Shot, to use our digital raffle and sweepstakes ecommerce platform to run the national Rewards for Change contest across all ten provinces and three territories. We are honoured to donate our time, support and be part of this national vaccine initiative to end COVID-19” says Andre Gionet.
As well as incentives, This Is Our Shot launched a COVID “Myth Buster” campaign, sponsored by RBC and featuring medical experts that will run across digital platforms. The series of videos made to be shared on social media aim to educate and calm hesitancy of the vaccine.
“With this campaign, we aim to support Algoma Public Health’s goal to reach a 90% vaccination rate as soon as possible” says Rory Ring of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce. “To date, 82 per cent of the Algoma population 12 and over have received one dose of the vaccine and 75 per cent have received both doses. Continuing to immunize the population and reaching a high vaccination rate is our best defense against the fourth wave as well as the rise of the Delta variant”.
