Marie Chamber of Commerce for a virtual fireside chat focussed on innovative strategic initiatives and the ever-expanding economic and social impacts Algoma University has within our community. Click here to continue your registration' link.)\n\n\n\nMeet our guests:\n\n\n\nAsima Vezina\, President and Vice- Chancellor of Algoma University\n\n\n\nAsima Vezina joined the Algoma University leadership team as President and Vice-Chancellor in October 2017\, bringing more than 20 years of transformational leadership experience to the role.\n\n\n\nAsima oversees the development and implementation of the institution's Strategic Plan while advancing the University's Special Mission to cultivate cross-cultural learning in a safe\, welcoming and inclusive environment.\n\n\n\nDuring President's Vezina's tenure\, the University has experienced record enrolment growth\, successfully introduced new academic programming\, and an expanded research presence. In addition\,  Algoma University has been increasingly recognized as a leader within the post-secondary sector's response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action. The University has significantly expanded its presence in both Northern and Southern Ontario through the development of a new tri-campus operational model.\n\n \n\nMario Turco\, Chancellor of Algoma Univerisity\n\n\n\nMario Turco was appointed Chancellor of Algoma University in September 2020.  Mario brings over forty years of experience in the education sector\, including 9 years as Director of Education for the Algoma District School Board.\n\n\n\nMario is a passionate advocate for student success\, equity and public education who is highly regarded and respected for his experience\, his interpersonal skills\, his knowledge\, and strategic thinking. He has worked extensively with government\, school boards\, and organizations across the province and country.
