DESCRIPTION:As required under the provisions of the Boards of Trade Act\, the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce will hold its 132nd Annual General Meeting on Thursday\, September 30th\, 2021. The business portion of the meeting will include:\n\n\n	\n	the election of the Chamber's board of directors \n	\n	\n	the presentation of the Chamber's audited financial statements for the year ended June 30th\, 2021\n	\n	\n	appointment of the 2021-2022 Auditor\n	\n	\n	approval of new members for the year ended June 30th\, 2021\n	\n	\n	an overview of the 2020-2021 fiscal year. \n	\n\n\n \n\nDate: Thursday\, September 30th\, 2021\n\nLocation: The Marconi Cultural Event Centre\n\nTime: 11:30am to 1:30pm\n\n \nOntario COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination Requirements: Please note that as of September 22\, 2021\, Ontarians need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities\, including meeting and event spaces\, such as banquet halls and conference/convention centres. Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce events will require all participants to 1) be fully vaccinated (two doses\, plus 14 days) as per Ontario regulations and provide nessesary proof of vaccination prior to entry\; OR 2) be able to provide the appropriate medical exemption documentation as identified by the Government of Ontario.\n\n\n\nSPECIAL KEYNOTE PRESENTATION\n\n\n\nMichael McQuade\n\n\n\nChief Executive Officer\, Algoma Steel Inc.\n\n \n\nMichael McQuade was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Algoma Steel Inc. in March 2019. Prior to joining Algoma\, Mr. McQuade acquired more than 35 years of progressive experience at Stelco Inc.   a Canadian steel producer.\n\n \n\nDuring his first 25 years at Stelco\, he moved through a variety of roles in finance\, accounting\, operations and sales. In 2007\, he was promoted to Vice President\, Finance at Stelco and played a critical role in that year's sale to U.S. Steel. He carried on after the sale as the General Manager\, Finance for U.S. Steel Canada\, and in 2010 was appointed Chief Financial Officer for U.S. Steel Canada. In his final executive role\, as President of Stelco / U.S. Steel Canada\, he led a successful financial restructuring and sale while under CCAA protection\, which separated Stelco from U.S. Steel. He retired from Stelco in March 2017.\n\n \n\nMr. McQuade holds a bachelor of mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo as well as the CPA\, CMA and Chartered Director designations. He currently serves as the Chair of the Canadian Steel Producers Association.
