About Us

Formed in 1889, and funded by the fees collected from our membership and through our fundraising efforts, we provide a voice for business for Sault Ste. Marie.

Our ongoing advocacy role includes addressing local government policies, programs and actions affecting member businesses. Your local Chamber facilitates enhancement of the economic climate; identifies education and training opportunities; improves relationships with government, business agencies and labour organizations and provides leadership in uniting major community groups. We do this locally and with the help from the Ontario & Canadian Chambers of Commerce.

We provide many opportunities for business people to network and meet other interested firms in their respective sectors and bring these views forward to the appropriate levels of government and lobby for positive change.

Networking & Business Connection Opportunities

Connect with peers, meet new customers & develop business opportunities through our broad range of networking events. From partnerships that introduce you to the up-and-coming businesses, to events with decision-makers, you can meet potential customers, clients, mentors and partners.

One of the Chamber’s objectives is to encourage interaction and exchange of information within the business community. The programs that the Chamber offers are developed to help member businesses be more successful. Whether the program is a Business Breakfast, a Luncheon, a Seminar, our annual Spring Expo, a Take 5 or a social event, you can learn as you network. Other special events include the Annual Meeting & Business Awards Dinner, an important event to include on your calendar, which provides tremendous recognition to the many business men and women who are contributing to the local business community.

We also understand the importance of having fun. The Chamber also holds a number of fun events throughout the year, such as our Curling Bonspiel and our Golf Tournament. Attend and participate and simply meet people like you: professionals from companies of all sizes actively involved in growing their business. All of these events not only keep you up to date on business issues and opportunities, but they serve as an excellent source of networking. You can exchange business cards, talk business or just have fun!

Take 5 Business Social Events... Take 5 events offer face to face networking forums for members of the business community. These events are come and go events so please drop by after work for a little distraction, a little fun, a little food and a lot of networking! It’s an opportunity for you and your staff to make new business contacts, identify potential customers and supply sources and discuss mutual business concerns.

Business Directory... Advertise in our annual Chamber Business Directory publication. This publication is put together through the strong support of our advertisers. This tool provides a comprehensive source of business and contact information for our community and a great tool for referencing products and services. Member businesses receive two free listings in both the membership directory and business guide sections of The Directory, and as a member of the Chamber you receive a complimentary hard copy of the publication. How Do I Become a Chamber Member?

To apply for membership in your Chamber a membership application must be completed and submitted with payment of membership fees. Chamber Membership is subject to approval from the Chamber Board of Directors. Applications can be obtained at the Chamber office.

Membership fees will be pro-rated depending on the time of year you join. The Chamber offers flexible and easy payment options. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Post-dated cheques, and dues can be paid monthly through our Electronic Funds Transfer.
