Celebrating 10 years of whimsy and wonder, Buskerfest partners with the Downtown Association for a Friday night street party
Buskerfest is proud to welcome back the United Steelworkers Union of Sault Ste. Marie as its 2013 title sponsor
SAULT STE. MARIE (Tuesday, June 18, 2013) - Since 2004, the Sault Buskerfest Committee has proudly presented the city's most unique and engaging annual festival, hosting professional street performers from around the globe for three days of free family entertainment. 2013 marks Buskerfest's 10 anniversary and to celebrate, the festival is pleased to partner with the Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Association to host a street party like no other on Friday, August 9. Queen Street from Pim Street to Bruce Street will be closed to traffic as street performers, vendors, and licensed patios make our scenic downtown burst with excitement.
“We’re happy to partner with Buskerfest and help them celebrate their 10th anniversary,” said Tasha Varpio, Downtown Association manager. “We look forward to a fun night on Queen Street.”
"This new partnership with the Downtown Association is the perfect way to commemorate Buskerfest's 10th year," said Donna Hopper, chair, Sault Ste. Marie Buskerfest Board of Directors. "The Friday night street party will kick the festival off in style while highlighting the Sault's invaluable downtown merchants and attractions."
The Buskerfest fun continues Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 in Queenstown Square 1 (between East and Brock Streets) with performances throughout the day, delectable street food, local artisans, and the ever-popular Saturday Night Buskerfest Cabaret at Loplops Gallery-Lounge.
Buskerfest would not be possible without our almighty community partners, and we're proud to welcome back the United Steelworkers of Sault Ste. Marie as our 2013 title sponsor.
“The United Steelworkers of the Sault Ste. Marie were pleased to once again sponsor Buskerfest to be held in Sault Ste. Marie’s downtown this coming August," said Jack Ostroski, United Steelworkers area coordinator. "The Steelworkers are proud to be a community-minded labour organization and hope that everyone participates in this great event for all ages. This year should top last year since we were able to provide the Buskerfest Committee with a full sponsorship.”
August 9, 10 and 11, 2013 -- circle those dates and prepare to have your jaw dropped, eyes bugged, and funny bone tickled as the 10th annual Sault Ste. Marie Buskerfest sets Queen Street on fire with whimsy, wonder and stunning feats of the incredible.
