The Local Immigration Partnership is hosting its 3rd Annual Immigration Forum on February 15th, 2013 from 8:00am to 3:30pm at the Comfort Suites and Conference Centre.

The theme of the 2013 forum is “Unity in Diversity” and has been fully funded by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The 3rd Annual Immigration Forum will address the concept of an “invitational community”, highlight local employer’s “best practices” on hiring immigrants, provide information about useful tools and services, and feature a panel discussion of newcomer experiences. The purpose of the Annual Immigration Forum is to provide community members with information about new or enhanced services for newcomers and to create community awareness about immigration in a social and economic context.

With honourable guest speakers such as:

  • Minister Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration; 
  • Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration - Statistical Analyst, Nelson Palacio;
  • Leo Tiberi, Vice President Academic – Sault College
  • Local employers
  • Newcomers to Sault Ste. Marie

Participants are guaranteed to receive a wide range of information confirming the importance of immigration to Ontario & Sault Ste. Marie and highlighting some of the many efforts currently in place to assist immigrants to Canada. It will also address the concept of an “Invitational Community Environment” as a potential framework for Sault Ste. Marie to provide a “Welcoming Community for all”.
