Central Savings Bank to Host "Road-to-Recovery" Burger Bash
Central Savings Bank is excited to host the 2nd Annual Road to Recovery "Care-A-Van" Burger Bash on Thursday, May 17 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm under the CSB canopy at 511 Bingham Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie. In 2011 the burger bash and t-shirt sales totaled a $5,293.25 donation to the Road to Recovery. This year's event is by donation only, and all proceeds raised will go to the Road to Recovery "Care"-A-Van for cancer patients.
Road to Recovery t-shirts, in green, are currently on sale for $10 at the main office of CSB and at War Memorial Hospital. There will be shirts available at the burger bash and afterwards at War Memorial Hospital. All t-shirt proceeds will go to the Road to Recovery Program.
The Road to Recovery Program is a non-profit, American Cancer Society program. It provides free transportation for residents of the EUP to Petoskey and back for required radiation oncology treatments every weekday. The program is funded entirely by donations, has no administrative costs, and the van is driven by approximately 30 volunteers.
The van gives cancer patients a ride to treatments they may have otherwise opted out of due to the exhaustion and expenses of traveling. It's not just a ride at no cost, however, as riders often develop a support system and relationships
that last long after their treatments are over.
Central Savings Bank is thrilled to have found a way to help this important program and to give the residents of the EUP an opportunity to donate and get a great meal and fun evening in return.
If any citizens are unable to attend, Central Savings Bank will accept donations before and after the event. The donated money will be placed into a separate bank account for the Road to Recovery. Please contact James Parker at CSB for more information. Phone: 906.253.1219 E-mail. email@example.com.
